The 7-seed Fighting Irish (14-1) reached this stage of the season with impressive victories in their last three games. They defeated No. 10 Indiana 27-17 at home in the opening round of the College Football Playoff before downing No. 2 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl quarterfinal game in New Orleans. Notre Dame punched its ticket to the CFP championship with a 27-24 victory over No. 6 Penn State in the Orange Bowl semifinal.

Meanwhile, the Buckeyes (13-2), who fell to archrival Michigan in the regular season finale, have plowed through the CFP, with double-digit wins over No. 9 Tennessee, No. 1 Oregon and No. 5 Texas thus far.
A win by Ohio State on Monday would mark not only the Buckeyes' first national championship since the 2014 college football season, but also the first of the Ryan Day era — perhaps alleviating some angst surrounding Day's 1-4 record against the Wolverines. The Fighting Irish, meanwhile, are playing in their first title game since the 2013 BCS championship, and looking for the first national title since the 1988 season.
With that, here's how to watch the CFP national championship on Monday:
